Tomas Alfredson was born in Stockholm. He is an autodidact filmmaker and has directed several TV-series as well as a couple of feature films. Alfredson's acclaimed feature Fyra nyanser av brunt/Four Shades of Brown (2004) received four National Film Awards (Guldbagge). Alfredson is a member of the comedy group Killinggänget, that wrote the script for Four Shades of Brown. In 2009 they put up a play, directed by Alfredson, at the Royal Dramatic Theatre in Stockholm.
Currently Tomas Alfredson is working on the Gwyneth Paltrow and Nicole Kidman starrer The Danish Girl, set for release in 2011.
