Professor and physician Bernhard Borg is a campaigner for modern sex education, both at home and in schools. He puts his entire authority – as a doctor and as a person – behind what he preaches. His opinions and his way of conveying them have brought him a lot of followers and admirers. But he also has critics and enemies. One person who strongly opposes Borg’s ideas about love and sexuality is his own wife, Margareta. She even openly opposes his views in a public discussion. But despite this, their marriage otherwise seems harmonious. Bernhard and Margareta have two children, Berit and Lennart, who are growing into adults. One day, Berit and her boyfriend Arne go away to an idyllic country guest house, where Berit gets pregnant. When she discovers this, Berit considers having an illegal abortion. Her father is totally against the idea. Instead he helps her prepare for a new life with Arne and the unplanned baby.
