Sam Ali, a young Syrian man becomes a refugee in Lebanon when he flees the Syrian civil war. Without legal status, he is unable to get visa to go to Italy where his beloved Abeer lives. In Beirut he meets Jeffrey Godefroi, a famous American contemporary artist. The artist tattooes Sam Ali's back. Sam Ali then changes from the status of "undocumented" person to that of a work of art, sought after internationally. His tattooed skin is worth an astronomical sum on the art market; collectors are interested and there is an auction planned. Human rights activists are outraged. But how to get out of such a trap and to become an ordinary man again?
