Handling
The camera takes an airplane trip over the mountains, cities, lakes and countryside of Switzerland. We visit som of Switzerland's cities which, though modern, still retain a medieval atmosphere. Then, pausing at at small riverside town, we witness a picturesque wedding ceremony. A typical mountainous village is visited where we see the occupants hard at work. Primitive hillside farming, the village cheese maker and the miller are shown. A journey is taken with the young-goat boy as he drives his herd up a steep mountain side. The unforgettable mellow tones of the huge Alp horns are heard echoing among the vallies and crags. The fall harvest is seen. The gaiety of the modern winter resorts are shown and the audience participates in a bobsled ride down the famous Cresta Run. Then a visit to the greatest of all Swiss festivals, the Basler Fastnacht, with its intricate masks and costumes. The climax is a climb to the top of the world famous Matterhorn with three young Swiss mountaineers, to gaze from its peak across the mountain land of Switzerland.
