Åke Sandgren was born in Umeå, Sweden. After his studies in Film Science & Philosophy at Stockholm University 1976-79, he moved to Denmark to study film direction at the Danish Film School 1979-82. After his graduation, Åke Sandgren has written and directed films both in Sweden and in Denmark.
