Hella Joof is an actor, a scriptwriter and a director – successful in all three categories. As an actor she played the policewoman Hell in Hannibal & Jerry (1997), she played a small part in Anders Thomas Jensen’s Oscar winning short film Election Night (Valgaften, 1998) and spoke Burkina Fasoian in Susanne Bier’s The One and Only (Den eneste ene, 1999). In the early nineties she conquered the Danish TV screens with the comedies Bullerfnis, Lex og klatten, Far og Mor og Blyp, Hvor svært kan det være? and...

In the early nineties she conquered the Danish TV screens with the comedies Bullerfnis, Lex og klatten, Far og Mor og Blyp, Hvor svært kan det være? and Normalerweize. Together with Peter Frödin and Martin Brygmann she made The Brown Dot (Det Brune Punktum, 1998) into a humoristic and musical hit. Hella Joof graduated from Odense Theatre School in 1990. As a film director and scriptwriter she was behind the very successful films Shake it all about (En kort en lang, 2001), Oh Happy Day (2004) and Fidibus (2006).
