Plot summary
On the death of her father, eight year-old Sabere and her mother were willed away to relatives. Later, Sabere was sold to an older man, fell pregnant and had a number of miscarriages. The mother had a daughter by her new owner/husband. And now that daughter, aged 11, is herself on the verge of being sold
