The writer and filmmaker Ulf Peter Hallberg was born in Malmö, Sweden, but has lived in Berlin since 1983 - choosing a cosmopolitan outlook. Hallberg's most important books are The Streetwalker's Glance (Flanörens blick, Norstedts 1996; Lo sguardo del flâneur, foreword by Claudio Magris, Iperborea, 2002), a story-telling about Eastern Europe, combining fact and fiction, and Grand Tour (2005), the story of a great "travel for knowledge”, a "viaggio di formazione”, through present day Europe, inspired by 18th century travellers. Hallberg has worked a lot for theatre and film, both as a writer and a director; in film mainly with his “Taviani-brother”, Danish director Torben Skjødt Jensen. Hallberg's latest book Den stulna fotbollen (Il calcio rubato) was just published in Italy (Iperborea, June 2006).
