Plot summary
A retired woodwork teacher discovers that the roof on one of the nest boxes he put up in the garden 30 years ago has cracked. The box has been flooded and he finds two dead baby birds inside. Driven by guilt and with the precision of a cabinet maker, he sets out to mass produce “the world’s best nest box”.
