Eva Lindström, a clothes shop assistant, overhears how a rich customer, banker Bo Stensjö, is planning a cruise on the ship Gripsholm. In a taxi he leaves his ticket behind on the back seat. By chance Eva happens to take the same taxi and finds the ticket. She takes advantage of the opportunity and heads for Gothenburg and Gripsholm. On board she meets her old friend Ebba who works there as a cleaner, and who helps her in her deception when she pretends to be "Mrs. Stensjö." The Gripsholm eventually reaches Naples. Bo Stensjö arrives by air and on boarding hears that his wife has already moved into the cabin. He is not amused, but does not denounce Eva. He moves into Ebba's plain employee cabin while the two young women share the luxury cabin. After some time Bo and Eva start to get on increasingly well and they decide to marry. In Monaco he reads in a Swedish paper that Eva has been reported missing in Sweden. At the time of her disappearance she was wearing clothes from the store, clothes not paid for. He wires some money and an explanation to Stockholm in order to sort the matter. The cruise continues for the happy couple.
