Plot summary

The big-game hunter Jean de Markisar is employed by the Belgian government is in Stanleyville to deliver an okapi to representatives of a European zoo. At the same time in a small village far from the capital, the medicine man Dunia is trying to regain control over the villagers by playing on their fear of a large mountain gorilla, that has killed a woman. The villager Opako approaches Jean to get help against the medicine man. Jean decides to take on the gorilla and thereby depriving Dunia of power. But to his chagrin the conceited Swedish journalist Lena Berg decides to join his expedition.
